Consistent, weekly sessions are recommended, and a second weekly session can be added to boost progress. Sessions are 50 minutes, and include one-on-one work with the speller, as well as parent coaching to prepare a parent to work with their child at home.
- Intensives are a good option for out-of-town families, and can also be used to jump start progress with local or semi-local families. Intensives can be scheduled for a few days or a full week. Two sessions are scheduled each day, with a minimum of one hour between sessions. Each session is a total of 50 min, and includes one-on-one work with the speller, as well as parent coaching.
- The goal at the end of the intensive is to have the parent be equipped to work consistently with their speller once they return home. Ongoing support should be maintained through video review, return trips, or online coaching.
Ongoing support is really important for S2C families. While in-person sessions are ideal, video review is a good way for out-of-town families to receive needed support during stretches when they are at home and one-on-one sessions aren’t possible. Families record and submit a video up to 20 minutes in length for review, and a follow-up zoom session is scheduled to go over the details of the video.
